Caroline Griffitts, DVM, DACVSMR, CVSMT:
I received my veterinary degree from Cornell University, and then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University. After working in mixed practice and as a relief veterinarian for emergency clinics, I now own a mobile house call practice primarily for companion animals. This gives me more flexibility to allow time for other interests such as traveling and sled dogs (combining these interests whenever possible). I am board certified in Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (Canine).
After a long interest in sled dogs, I started working as a trail veterinarian in 1993 on the Iditarod. Since then, I have been a chief veterinarian and trail veterinarian on many races in North America and Europe, including the Iditarod, the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, the PSSSDR , local sprint and dryland races in Colorado, the Yukon Quest, Finnmarkslopet, Femundlopet, IFSS dryland championships, and Russian dryland and stage races. I also currently serve on the Anti-Doping Committee for the International Federation of Sled Dog Sports.
I have been a member of ISDVMA since 1993 and am currently president. I believe that sharing information and knowledge is the best way to further the health and well-being of sled dogs.
